QUICK ANSWERS

The questions parents ask first.

Is it soft enough for my child's gums?

Yes. It's the softest bristle we make: horse hair, no firm option. Finer and gentler than nylon, closest to a soft kids' brush, and kind to new teeth and developing gums. Most kids adjust in a day or two.

Is it safe if my child chews or swallows a bristle?

The bristles are pressure-anchored without glue, and a few may shed in the first few uses while the bamboo settles into a wet bathroom. That's normal and harmless. If one ever comes loose, it's natural hair, not a plastic fragment. A nylon bristle that comes off is permanent plastic; ours breaks down. As with any brush, supervise young children.

What age is it for?

Recommended for ages 3 and older.

Smaller head and shorter handle, sized to reach little back teeth and sit comfortably in a small mouth.

Supervise younger children while they brush.

How are the bristles cleaned?

Steam sterilised at 100°C for 6 hours, then UV-sanitized. This removes all biological matter and leaves them sterile, hygienic, and odourless. Every batch is third-party tested for heavy metals and chemical residue.

Will the bamboo get mouldy?

Bamboo is natural, so no brand can honestly promise it never will. We steam-carbonise the handle to remove the sugars mould feeds on and seal the base so water doesn't seep in. It stands upright to air-dry. Keep it dry between uses and it lasts.

TOXIN DODGER IN THE WILD

Aussie families are switching their kids first.

Why plastic bristles are a problem

A child's body is still developing. Plastic shouldn't be part of it.

A standard nylon kids' brush sheds nano-scale plastic fibres every time it flexes against their teeth. You don't see them. They have no taste. They go where saliva goes, which is everywhere.

Children brush twice a day, their gums are some of the most absorbent tissue in the body, and they are still developing. The brush gets replaced every few months. The shed plastic doesn't.

Switching to a natural bristle removes the source. No nylon in their mouth, no nylon in the bin, no nylon in the bloodstream.

88,000microplastic particles a person ingests each year, by recent estimates.
MADE FOR LITTLE MOUTHS

Smaller head. Softer bristle. Made for ages 3 to 11.

We make one bristle for kids, and it is the softest we make. No firm option, no guesswork. Just the gentlest plastic-free clean, sized to fit a small mouth.

SOFT

Soft, not scratchy.

Horse hair is the softest bristle we make. No boar, no firm. Gentle on developing gums and brand-new teeth.

SMALL

Small enough to reach.

Shorter handle, smaller head. Reaches the little back teeth and sits comfortably in a small mouth. Sized for ages 3 to 11.

THEIRS

4 colors per box.

Every 4-pack comes in four colours: white, yellow, pink and green. Each kid picks their own. No more grabbing the wrong brush.

How it's made

Built to keep plastic out of their mouth.

01

Natural bristles replace nylon.

Soft horse hair, sourced from the food-industry supply chain. Nothing is farmed for the brush. Sterilised at 100°C for 6 hours and tested for heavy metals.

02

Pressure-anchored, no glue.

Bristle tufts are pressure anchored into the head. No epoxy, no resin, no adhesive. So if a bristle ever comes loose, it is just natural hair, not a plastic fragment.

03

Steam-carbonised bamboo.

The handle is steam-carbonised to resist bacteria and mould, and sealed at the base so water does not seep in. It stands upright on its own to air-dry.

04

Ends in your compost.

Fully compostable. Plastic brushes sit in landfill for 400+ years. Replace every 6 to 12 weeks as per dentist recommendations.

As a dental nurse...I am so thrilled with the kids horse hair tooth brush. We are actually 5 adults at home using the kids size...as the head is thin enough and small enough to be able to reach back teeth and do proper circular motions....great job guys...am telling everyone about this fantastic product...I personally love how there isn't toxic glues in the handle 🙏

These toothbrushes have been great for my 5yo daughter. Good size, horse hair bristles firm enough to give a good brush but are actually quite soft. Even better no nasty micro plastics!!

So glad to find a kids toothbrush that's plastic-free. Handy that each toothbrush is a different colour at the bottom so it's easy to tell whose is whose.

I bought the kids Horse Hair pack actually for myself because I have a smaller mouth and I was after sofer bristles being horse hair. Tooth brush is nicely made, love how it stands up right and really like how the head of the brush get right in behind my back teeth easily with feeling any discomfort. ☺️
Highly recommend this product to anyone who wants to get as much plastic crap out of their life that's good for the environment and their health!

I really enjoy these toothbrushes; knowing how darn natural they are compared to the plastic stuff. I've been using the kids toothbrushes alongside my child. I read from previous reviews that they feel different in the mouth and was worried, but it hasn't been a problem at all and they don't feel particularly different to me nor my sensitive 6-yo. They don't last as long as the plastic toothbrushes before the bristles start to wear, softening noticeably (I tended to use them for longer than I should have), but I have no problem with that- they are an entirely natural material after all. Will continue to use these, happy with my purchase.

They work! They are soft enough, stand up easily to air dry and also look really nice. My kids love them! We will continue to buy. We will never go back to using plastic now.

My twins boys love their new tooth brushes!

A NOTE FROM THE FOUNDERS

We were done being lied to.

We were pregnant with our first when we fell down the rabbit hole. Reading the studies on microplastics. Watching how much chronic disease there was around us, in family, in friends. The saying stuck with us: genetics loads the gun, environment pulls the trigger. And our environment was full of plastic nobody asked for.

So we tried to clean it up. Going low-tox meant ten different shops, ten different brands, and a wall of greenwashing that was still plastic underneath. Even the kids' brushes. Especially the kids' brushes.

We started making the swaps we wanted for our own kids, then for friends, then for their friends. That's how Toxin Dodger was born. We made it easier to keep this stuff out of your children's bodies, because we wanted it out of ours.

What age is this toothbrush for?+

Ages 3 to 11. Smaller head and shorter handle, sized for little mouths. Supervise younger children while they brush.

Is it safe if my child chews or swallows a bristle?+

Yes. Bristles are pressure-anchored with stainless wire, no glue. If one ever comes loose it is natural hair that breaks down, not a permanent plastic fragment like a nylon bristle. A few may shed in the first few uses as the bamboo settles, which is normal and harmless. Supervise young children, same as any brush.

Is horse hair soft enough for a young child?+

It is the softest bristle we make. Finer and more flexible than nylon, gentle on new teeth and sensitive gums. We do not make a firm version for kids on purpose.

How do I get my child to use it?+

Let them pick their colour. The 4-pack comes with one each (white, yellow, pink, green), so every kid has their own. Brush together so they copy you. It feels like a normal brush, no strong taste or smell, so the switch is easy.

Is it hygienic? How are the bristles cleaned?+

Sterilised at 100°C for 6 hours and steam-treated, then third-party tested for heavy metals and chemical residue. Completely sterile and odourless.

Will the bamboo go mouldy?+

Not if you keep it dry. The handle is steam-carbonised and sealed to resist mould, and stands upright to air-dry. Replace every 6 to 12 weeks like any brush.

A few bristles came loose. Is that normal?+

In the first few uses, yes. We anchor bristles with pressure and wire instead of glue, so a few can shed while the bamboo acclimates to a wet bathroom. It settles quickly. They are natural hair, completely harmless.

Are they vegan?+

No. The bristles are natural animal hair, a byproduct of the food industry. We are honest about it. The only alternative is plastic, which sheds microplastics into your child's mouth. We chose the one that doesn't.
