If we wouldn't use it with our children, we won't sell it to yours.
What's so bad about plastic toothbrushes?
Plastic toothbrushes use nylon bristles made from petroleum.
They contain BPA, PFAS, and hormone disruptors.
Every time you brush, microplastic fragments break off and you swallow them.
Studies show people ingest thousands of microplastic particles yearly, with toothbrushes being a major source.
Plus nylon bristles damage enamel and cause gum recession. One billion plastic toothbrushes hit US landfills annually Alone.
How are the bristles sourced?
We work closely with suppliers to ethically source our bristles in the same way hair brush manufacturers do.
Some hairs are taken from the animals during their upbringing, but most are up-cycled from animals already processed for food.
No animals are harmed specifically for bristles; it's a byproduct that would otherwise go to waste.
Is it perfect? No. But here's what we're facing: it's the only truly plastic-free toothbrush option available. Every plastic brush you use sheds microplastics into oceans, poisoning marine life and entering our food chain. Hundreds of millions end up in landfills annually, leaching toxins for centuries.
We're not contributing to animal agriculture – we're repurposing waste that already exists.
Until the world stops eating meat, there will be a surplus of boar hair. We believe using it is better than creating more plastic pollution that harms countless animals and ecosystems.
Why are these so expensive?
Each brush should last you 8-12 weeks, which works out to be less than $3 per month.
But here's what you're really paying for:
Zero health compromises and genuine natural plastic free materials that don't shed toxins.
Think of it as health insurance that costs less than one cheap servo-coffee per month.
What's the price of NOT making this swap?
What are your toothbrushes made of?
We have two versions: Pure boar hair bristles, or pure horse hair bristles....both woven into a sustainable bamboo handle.
Zero plastic. Zero nylon. Zero BPA, Phthalates, or PFAS.
No harsh industrial chemicals or industrial glues are used.
What are the dimensions of the toothbrush?
Our toothbrushes come in two sizes:
- Adult Brush: 19.5 cm (length) × 2 cm (base width)
- Kids Brush: 14.5 cm (length) × 1.5 cm (base width)
How soft/firm are the bristles?
Choose boar bristle if you like a medium-firm bristle toothbrush for a thorough cleaning experience
Choose horse bristle if you prefer a softer bristle toothbrush for a gentle cleaning experience.
The bristles feel too firm – what should I do?
If the bristles feel too firm when your brush arrives, just soak them in boiling water for 5 minutes before your first use.
This will soften them right up. Easy.
How are bristles sterilized?
Our natural bristles are treated using a strict, multi-stage high-temperature sterilization process.
The hair is thoroughly scoured, washed, and disinfected via steaming at 100°C for 6 hours.
This strict thermal cleaning removes all biological matter, guaranteeing the bristles are completely sterile, hygienic, and odorless for safe use.
Are These Suitable for kids?
Yes, for ages 6 and up.
Actually far safer than plastic brushes. No EMFs like electric toothbrushes emit near developing brains.
No toxic chemicals or microplastics. Natural boar bristles are gentler than harsh nylon.
Many parents report reduced gum sensitivity and bleeding after switching from plastic brushes. For younger kids, try our horse bristle version - even softer.
Check out our store for the kids version which is suitable for kids ages 1-6 years old
Will the bamboo get mouldy?
We prevent mould using a rigorous steam carbonization process.
The raw bamboo is heat-treated up to 300°C in a specialized oven. This intense thermal treatment completely sterilizes the wood, eliminating organic cell membranes that often lead to mould spores and bacteria when wet.
It also removes the internal sugars and starches that attract mold and insects, making the handles highly water-resistant and ensuring long-term durability
Do you use glue to hold the toothbrush bristles in the bamboo handle?
No. We do not use glue.
The bristles are secured using a mechanical method called pressure anchoring, which firmly holds them in place without the need for adhesives.
We are committed to keeping our products free from plastics and industrial chemicals, ensuring they are as natural and environmentally friendly as possible.
Is it normal for the bristles to shed or come out?
With natural bristle brushes, it’s completely normal for a few loose hairs to shed during the first couple of uses.
We don’t use industrial glues like plastic toothbrushes do, and the bamboo handle can swell slightly when it first gets wet. This allows the bristles to settle into place.
After a few brushes, the shedding stops completely.
Most of us are used to plastic toothbrushes, so this can feel unexpected at first - totally understandable.
If you’re open to it, we recommend giving the brush a day or two to settle in before judging the experience.
How long does each toothbrush last?
Like any toothbrush, dentists recommend you replace your toothbrush every 2-4 months with proper hygiene use.
Two to four months per brush - same as any quality toothbrush.
But unlike plastic bristles that fray and shed microplastics, natural bristles maintain integrity.
Our bamboo handles dry fast thanks to the water-repellent seal at the base.
This prevents mould and extends lifespan beyond other bamboo brushes.
Each 4-pack will last 8-12 months for one person with proper maintenance.
